摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine excellently bringing out the performance of a three way catalyst by controlling an air-fuel ratio to a lean side according to the activity rate of an oxygen storage capacity in the activation transition of the oxygen storage capacity of the three way catalyst at the time of start of the internal combustion engine in a cold condition. SOLUTION: This control device is provided with the three way catalyst provided in the exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine, a basic fuel injection amount calculation means calculating a basic fuel injection amount, a means for calculating the correction amount of the fuel injection amount which calculates the correction amount of the basic fuel injection amount so that an air-fuel ratio in the upstream of the three way catalyst matches a target air-fuel ratio, a fuel injection amount calculation means calculating a fuel injection amount with the basic fuel injection amount corrected according to the correction amount of the basic fuel injection amount, a means for detecting the activity rate of the oxygen storage capacity which detects the activity rate of the oxygen storage capacity of the thee way catalyst, and a target air-fuel ratio calculation means setting the target air-fuel ratio according to the activity rate of the oxygen storage capacity calculated by the means for detecting the activity rate of the oxygen storage capacity.
