A method and a system for providing location information to a communication terminal through a communication network are provided to offer location information to communication terminal users more easily and conveniently by transmitting location information of the second communication terminal to user of the first communication terminal, who made a request for location information of the second terminal, through a message including text data, image data, or address information containing image data. A system for providing location information to a communication terminal through a communication network comprises the first communication part(701), the second communication part(702), and a location information providing part(703). The first communication part(701) receives a location information providing request, including terminal number information of the second communication terminal, from the first communication terminal. The second communication part(702) transmits a permission inquiry message to the second communication terminal according to the location information providing request, and receives location information of the second communication terminal. The location information providing part(703) processes the received location information and transmits it to the first communication terminal through the first communication part(701).
