<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an automobile to travel according to the instruction of a driver and to suppress a slip thereof more. <P>SOLUTION: When a high-output mode setting switch 89 is on, the rated maximum torque Tm3max of a motor MG3 is output from the motor MG3 and torques obtained by limiting torques which are differences between a requested torque T* that the vehicle requires and torques output to rear wheels 66a and 66b as specified are also output to front wheels 63a and 63b. Consequently, relatively large torques can be output to the rear wheels 66a and 66b and differences between the torques output to the front wheels 63a and 63b and the torque output to the rear wheels 66a and 66b can be made small.
