VARIABLE COMPRESSION RATIO INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE, GEAR STRUCTURE AND METHOD FOR ASSEMBLING GEAR IN VARIABLE COMPRESSION RATIO INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology enabling easier matching of phases of two cam shafts, in a variable compression ratio internal combustion engine wherein the compression ratio is varied by relatively moving a cylinder block and a crank case by rotation of two cam shafts.

SOLUTION: A pair of fan shape gears 10 fixed on the cam shafts are used for rotating a pair of the cam shafts provided on a connection part of the crank case and the cylinder block. When relative position of the crank case and the cylinder block becomes a predetermined relative position, engagement of the pair of the fan shape gear 10 and gears 1a, 1b rotating the pair of the fan shape gears 10 and the pair of the fan shape gears 10 get in a condition of free rotation.
