PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator where a compressor is installed at the top to increase the storage capacity of a bottom storage compartment and to enhance storability, while forming an efficient and rational refrigeration cycle. SOLUTION: The compressor 52 is installed at the rear of the top face of a top storage compartment, i.e., useless space that is out of reach of anyone even if one stands on tiptoe, to increase the storage capacity of the bottom storage compartment and to enhance storability while promoting the radiation of heat from the compressor 52 located on the top face which is relatively likely to be open. In this way, the refrigerator is provided in which a refrigeration cycle allowing efficient and rational radiation of heat from a heat release pipe serving as a condenser 91 is formed.
