PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow fiber membrane of good adaptability to a human body, with less performance change caused by swelling of the membrane during the standing time after priming and with a membrane material having an affinity with water. SOLUTION: In the hollow fiber membrane for blood purification, the ultrafiltration coefficient of purified water one hour after the priming (UFR (1 hr)) and the ultrafiltration coefficient of purified water twenty four hours after the priming (UFR (24 hrs)) are in the specified range. For the method of producing the hollow fiber membrane for blood purification, the hollow fiber is reeled in a bobbin form during the process of the dry-wet spinning method for a hollow fiber and the bobbin is put in a bag with a certain degree of moisture permeability for heat treatment.
