An implement method for a propagation delay of a physical random access channel in a wide coverage includes: obtaining by node B an actual propagation delay in the course of random access representing said actual propagation delay by using an reported bit number of the propagation delay and a quantification precision corresponding to currently searched cell, said quantification precision and said reported bit number of the propagation delay are determined according to maximum cell radius, so that the corresponding reported bit number of the propagation delay can represent maximum cell radius after said propagation delay is quantified with said quantification precision transmitting by node B said quantified propagation delay to a radio network controller (RNC). A communication equipment is also provided.
