A motor driving mechanism for a mechanically scanned ultrasonic transducer is provided to optimize the size, weight and shape of a wobbler transducer by locating a driving shaft of a motor vertical to an array. In a motor driving mechanism(40) for a mechanically scanned ultrasonic transducer, an array(46) moves vertically. A bushing(50) is installed on a shaft. A first arm(52) is connected to the array and slides in the bushing. A motor(42) has a driving shaft(44). A second arm(48) is connected to the driving shaft, and is located to slide in the bushing.
