METHOD FOR PRODUCING 1-DEOXYGALACTONOJIRIMYCIN, SYNTHETIC INTERMEDIATE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing 1-deoxygalactonojirimycin in shorter processes and in a high yield.

SOLUTION: This method for synthesizing the 1-deoxygalactonojirimycin from 1-deoxynojirimycin comprises a process for protecting the nitrogen and the 6-hydroxyl group of the 1-deoxynojirimycin to obtain a compound represented by formula (II), a process for protecting the 2 and 3-hydroxyl groups of the compound represented by formula (II) to obtain a compound represented by formula (III), a process for sulfonating the 4-hydroxyl group of the compound represented by formula (III) to obtain a compound represented by formula (IV), a process for reversing the 4-position of the compound represented by formula (IV) to obtain a compound represented by formula (V), and a process for removing all the protecting groups of the compound represented by formula (V) to obtain the 1-deoxygalactonojirimycin.
