PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning unit provided with a discharge means for discharging stuck materials, below the rotating member for removing materials stuck on a surface of an image carrier, wherein a proper amount of toner is carried on the surface of a rotating member. SOLUTION: A cleaning unit 80 includes a polishing roller 82 being the rotating member, a discharge screw 83 being the discharge means, and a porous plate 84, in a housing 81. The polishing roller 82 is provided in an upper part inside the housing so as to be pressed to a photoreceptor drum 22 with a prescribed force. The discharge screw 83 is provided below the polishing roller 82 in the housing 81. The porous plate 84 is disposed between the polishing roller 82 and the discharge screw 83. The porous plate 84 has a plurality of through holes 84a and comes in contact with a peripheral surface of the polishing roller 82 from below. Consequently, the toner removed from a surface of the photoreceptor drum 22 by the polishing roller 82 is prevented from falling to the discharge screw 83 just below the polishing roller 82.
