SMS PROCESSING METHOD FOR MIXED MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM OF ASYNCHRONOUS COMMUNICATION NETWORK AND SYNCHRONOUS COMMUNICATION NETWORK

An SMS(Short Message Service) processing method in a mobile communication system where a synchronous network and an asynchronous network are mixed together is provided to be capable of configuring an SMSC(SMS Center) of the asynchronous network in dual stack type, thus SMS reception for a number mobility subscriber is normally conducted even without changing the configuration of an SMS server and the SMSC of the synchronous network. After a 2G MSC(Mobile Switching Center) receives an SMS from an originating terminal, the 2G MSC extracts a prefix of a receiving terminal to confirm whether the extracted prefix is a 2G network number(S101,S103). If so, the 2G MSC transmits the SMS to a 2G SMSC(S105). The 2G SMSC inquires of a DHLR(Dual stack Home Location Register) about subscriber information(S107), and confirms whether the receiving terminal is a number mobility terminal(S109). If so, the 2G SMSC delivers the SMS to a DSMSC(Dual Stack MSC)(S125). The DSMSC inquires of the DHLR about routing information(S127). The DSMSC transmits the SMS to the receiving terminal according to the routing information inquired about by the DHLR(S129).
