<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anode capable of improving capacity and charging/discharging efficiency, and a battery using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The anode 10 has an anode current collector 11 and an anode active material layer 12. The anode active material layer 12 contains anode activator, binding agent, and carboxymethyl cellulose or a salt thereof. A film 11B containing a polymer containing vinylidene fluoride as a component is formed on the anode current collector 11.
