<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developer layer detection device capable of stably and accurately measuring the thickness of a developer layer on a developer carrier; and to provide a developing device using the developer layer detection device, and an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The developer layer detection device for detecting the thickness of the developer layer on a developer carrier 1 having developer G carried and conveyed on a surface thereof is provided with: a detection contact 2 coming into contact with the developer layer and following a change in the thickness of the developer layer; a physical-quantity variable means 3 for making the change to a predetermined physical quantity according to the following change of the detection contact 2; and a physical quantity change detection means 4 for detecting a physical quantity change obtained by the physical-quantity variable means 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
