PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for degrading a resin with which the flow rate of a fluidizing gas and agitating power can be reduced and the resin can stably be degraded over a long period when solid particles are fluidized with both the fluidizing gas and the agitation. SOLUTION: An apparatus for degrading the resin is obtained by arranging an agitator and a distributor for the fluidizing gas such as nitrogen or steam in a fluidized bed filled with the solid particles such as sand, ceramic particles or metal particles. The solid particles are fluidized by utilizing both an agitating apparatus and the fluidizing gas. The resin is fed into the fluidized bed with a feeder and heated from the side of the fluidized bed or from the interior of the fluidized bed with heat transfer pipes. Otherwise, the fluidizing gas is pre-heated, etc. Thereby, the resin is heated and degraded. The resultant degradation product is cooled with a cooler and recovered in a recovering vessel.
