PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a container to be favorably gripped by one hand even if the container has a container side wall which greatly tilts to the outside regarding the packaging container which is used, e.g., when simple lunch boxes or other various kinds of foods and so forth are preserved or displayed for vending while being housed. SOLUTION: This packaging container 1 is manufactured by thermally molding a synthetic resin sheet. In the packaging container 1, a finger placing recess 9 which is used when the packaging container 1 is gripped by one hand is formed on the external surface of the side wall of the container 1. The finger placing recesses 9 are formed, e.g., on external surfaces of the side walls facing each other of the container 1. Alternatively, for a container having a partitioning section inside, the finger placing recess 9 may be formed on the external surface of the container side wall facing the partitioning section.
