DISEASE MODEL MOUSE OF HYPERCHOLESTEROLEMIA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new disease model animal assuming remarkable hypercholesterolemia or arteriosclerosis which cannot be obtained by conventional model animals and to more specifically provide the disease model animal assuming the hypercholesterolemia or arteriosclerosis only with a general diet without formulating a high-cholesterol diet. SOLUTION: The animal deficient in both NMU (neuromedin U) gene and ApoE gene is created. It is found that the animal develops the remarkable hypercholesterolemia and remarkable arteriosclerosis.
