<p>An optical pickup in which constituting members are scattered, dead space is reduced, and aberration is reduced at low manufacturing cost. In an outward path of the optical pickup for irradiating the recording surface (12) of a disc with a laser beam, a laser beam emitted from a laser diode (2) is reflected by a polarization mirror (3), polarized by a quarter-wavelength plate (4), emitted from an objective lens (5), and converges on the recording surface (12) of the disc. In the inward path for receiving the laser beam reflected by the recording surface (12), the laser beam reflected by the recording surface (12) of the disc is diverged by the objective lens (5), polarized by a quarter-wavelength plate (4), passes through the polarization mirror (3), reflected by the total reflection film (61) of a quarter-wavelength plate (6) provided with a reflective film, reflected by the polarization mirror (3), and enters in a photodiode (7). The laser diode (2) and the photodiode (7) are arranged on both sides of the polarization mirror (3).</p> |
