A hook for a hood stay rod is provided to facilitate insertion and removal of the hood stay rod, and especially to prevent separation of the hood stay rod during use by securely holding the hood stay rod. A hook for a hood stay rod comprises a base and a hook member. The base is fit in and supported by a penetration hole formed on a panel in a hood. The base has an insertion hole for fitting therein the hood stay rod. The hook member is connected with a connection hole formed on the base to be movable forward and backward. The hook member also has an insertion hole fitting the hood stay rod therein. When the hood stay rod is inserted, the hook member moves in a direction for reducing size of the insertion hole of the base, thereby supporting the hood stay rod. The hook member comprises a hook body(10a), a supporting part, a head part, a spring part(10d), an extension part(10e), a fixing part(10f), and a slope part. The extension part is extended in a horizontal direction in the same manner as the supporting part.
