A method for managing a device driver and an information processing device are provided to improve user convenience by limiting the number of installed device drivers with simple configuration change of a client side and limiting the number of device drivers according to user defined priority. The first receiver receives the first signal issued from a peripheral such as a network printer(3000). The second receiver receives information for the peripheral, which is an issuer of the first signal received by the first receiver. A determiner determines whether the priority, which is set based on a condition and the peripheral information received by the second receiver, of the peripheral satisfies an upper limit or not. An installation controller installs the device driver corresponding to the peripheral in case that the priority of the peripheral satisfies the upper limit. A setting part sets property information for determining the device driver to be installed. A priority assigner sets the priority of the device driver based on the set property information.
