<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing control device for an internal combustion engine capable of improving engine startability by opening and closing an intake valve at valve timing suitable for each condition relating to a start, during the start of the internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: A valve timing control device is provided with a variable valve timing mechanism adjusting valve timing of the intake valve provided in the engine in a predetermined adjustment range, an electric motor operated by electricity supply and driving the variable valve timing mechanism, and an electronic control device controlling the electric motor to keep valve timing of the intake valve at a time of engine start by the variable valve timing mechanism at target valve timing according to an operation condition of the engine. The electronic control device establishes valve timing to open the intake valve in a neighborhood of most delayed angle in the adjustment range if engine temperature is in a very low temperature range at a time of engine stat as target valve timing (S200, S500). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
