PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus, a method, and a program for image processing that enable a user to easily select images to be used for a specified purpose (for example, print ordering) out of stored images. SOLUTION: The user can input the number of print candidate images to automatically be selected to a quantity specification field 114 through a keyboard 30 to specify the number of print candidate images. The user can specify the rate of the number of print candidate images to automatically be selected to the total number of all images in the folder by sliding a slider of a rate specification switch 116 with the mouse 32. Further, the user can specify conditions (automatic selection conditions) for automatically selecting print candidate images by using a condition specification field 118. Here, the automatic selection conditions are, for example, person image priority, specified person priority, scene image priority, latest image priority, old image priority, etc., and can be specified by clicking check boxes added to the respective conditions with the mouse 32.
