PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide image supporting material capable of yielding an image having uniform high glossiness over a whole image as in silver halide photography and excellent in graininess, and an image forming apparatus using the image supporting material. SOLUTION: The image supporting material 1 supporting a color toner image containing at least thermoplastic resin and a colorant so as to be able to be fixed is equipped with: base material 2; a light scattering layer 4 provided on the front surface side of the base material 2 and containing white pigment and thermoplastic resin; a toner receiving layer 5 provided on the front surface side of the light scattering layer 4 and containing at least thermoplastic resin; and an electric field uniformizing layer 3 provided on the back surface side or the front surface side of the light scattering layer 4 and capable of uniformizing electric field distribution acting on the base material 2 along the surface of the base material.
