PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gravity type tilting die casting apparatus which has a simple structure, and can be easily installed and maintained, and can be manufactured at low cost. SOLUTION: In the present apparatus, when a flexible member is moved by means of a driving device in one direction, the arm pivotally mounted on the flexible member is turned in one direction, and an upper die plate is lowered via the link pivotally mounted on the arm, and an upper die is fastened to a lower die. After the dies have been fastened, molten metal is supplied to a basin in the upright position. While the flexible member is further moved in one direction, and a turning frame is swivelled in the other direction up to a tilting position against the turning torque for turning the turning frame in one direction about a horizontal rotation axis by the total gravity force to be applied to the turning frame, the molten meatal is poured from the basin into the die. When the molten metal has been cooled, the flexible member is moved in the other direction by means of the driving device, and after the turning frame has been swivelled in one direction up to the upright position, the upper die plate is lifted via the arm and the link, and the upper die is separated from the lower die.
