PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ambience design method of an illumination space allowing a general user who does not have expert knowledge that can readily provide a luminaire or a combination of luminaires for implementing an illumination environment, matching the ambience of a room desired by the user, in a room mainly, using indirect illumination and wall-surface illumination with a plurality of lamps per room and high in design properties, and to provide an ambience control system of an illumination space. SOLUTION: Luminaires to be used are classified into three categories, that is, a luminaire LH10 (category High) of which the irradiation area is located at a high position in the visual field of a person staying in the room, a luminaire LL10 (category Low) of which the irradiation area is located at a low position, and a luminaire LM10 (category Middle) of which the irradiation area is located at an intermediate position, between the high position and the low position. A rate of each color mode boundary luminance for each category or a rate of each brightness feeling unit set, based on each color mode boundary luminance for each category is set at a predetermined value for providing desired atmosphere of the living room Ra of a house.
