PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoresis apparatus capable of narrowing a frame size. SOLUTION: The electrophoresis apparatus is provided with: a light transmissive first substrate (10) having a first electrode (12); a second substrate (14) having a second electrode (16) and disposed opposite to the first substrate so that a protrusion part (40) which is not superposed on the first substrate in a plate thickness direction is secured; a wiring pattern (22) electrically connected to the second electrode via a connection body (24) penetrating in the second substrate and provided on the other surface of the second substrate so as to reach the protrusion part of the second substrate; an electrophoretic layer (18) interposed between the first and the second electrodes; a light transmissive first moisture preventing film (26) having a part in contact with the other surface of the first substrate and an excessive part disposed on the periphery thereof; and a second moisture preventing film (28) having a part in contact with the other surface of the second substrate and an excessive part disposed on the periphery thereof and disposed so that at least one part of the protrusion part of the second substrate is exposed.
