PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a measurement value in reliability in a surveying equipment with an automatic optical path correcting mechanism by only carrying out an easy revamp for conventional ones in order to enable a range to be determined whether the automatic optical path correcting mechanism corrects an optical path, and also to enable a corrected state of the optical path to be checked visually by using a display means. SOLUTION: The automatic optical path correcting mechanism of the surveying equipment is equipped with: a limit pin (22) arranged so as to project upward from a correcting pendulum body; and a pair of stopper sections (25) for regulating a swing motion of the limit pin. The mechanism also comprises: a light receiving element (32) being disposed above the limit pin; a through-hole (28) formed on a portion contacting the head section (23) of the limit pin in the stopper section; a light source (30) which is fixed to the through-hole so as to emit light from the through-hole; and the display means which has a microcomputer and a display for determining the range as to whether the automatic optical path correcting mechanism can correct the optical path from an output of the light receiving element, and displays a determined result.
