PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress protrusion of an uppermost shelf far side, and to increase internal volume and depth of a lowermost shelf by mounting a compressor in an upper side, and to improve service life of the compressor. SOLUTION: In the refrigerator, the compressor 52 is mounted in a top face rear of a storage chamber in an uppermost shelf being a wasteful space unreachable even by stretching, and by providing a machine chamber fan 53 such that air is blown on the compressor 52 to carry out heat dissipation, temperatures of a sliding part and a resin component 56 in an interior of the compressor 52 are lowered to improve the service life of the compressor, electric energy consumption is reduced by reduction of a penetration heating value from a machine chamber 51 to a refrigerator interior, and a heat exhaust air duct using a machine chamber cover 62 is efficiently and rationally composed.
