PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric kettle which is excellent in safety by removing a risk of burning a human body, and in which deficiencies of wetting a floor with droplets etc. are eliminated and work efficiency is excellent by reducing troublesomeness in assembling work. SOLUTION: A steam passage 16 for leading generated steam to the outside of a lid is formed, and a valve chamber 17 provided with a water cut-off valve 32 for closing the steam passage when a main body falls down is formed in the middle of the steam passage. The valve chamber 17 is formed in a bottomed cylindrical shape. At the center of the valve chamber, a valve placing part 26 with a U-shaped cross section projects from a valve chamber bottom wall 25. In rear of the valve chamber bottom wall between the valve placing part and a valve chamber outer periphery wall, an air intake opening 28 communicated with the steam passage 16 is provided, and the front of the valve placing part opposite to the air intake opening is notched to provide a valve part entering port 29. Thus, steam entering the valve chamber through the intake air opening detours around the outside of the valve placing part and enters the valve placing part through the valve part entering port. The valve chamber bottom wall 25 of the valve chamber 17 is inclined downward toward the side of the valve part entering port 29 from the side of the air intake opening 28.
