A sliding member and a machine tool comprising the same are provided to uniformly maintain an amount of lubrication oil through a concave portion due to a plastic strain by supplying the lubrication oil between sliding guide surfaces, thereby increasing the precision of guide. A sliding member includes a support frame, at least one moving structure, a sliding guide mechanism, and a conveyance mechanism. At least one moving structure is movably supported by the support frame in a predetermined conveyance direction. The sliding guide mechanism has a sliding guide surface installed at the support frame and a sliding guide surface installed at the moving structure to guide movement of the movable structure in the conveyance direction. The conveyance mechanism guides movement of the moving structure in the conveyance direction. The sliding member is used in one of the sliding guide surface adjacent to the support frame and the sliding guide surface adjacent to the moving structure. The sliding member is formed of a sheet member having a main component as synthetic resin.
