An apparatus and a method for registering an MCID(Malicious Call ID) of a terminal in a VoIP system using SIP(Session Initial Protocol) are provided to enable a generic standard SIP terminal to use an MCID function by registering MCIDs through standard SIP messages with a user's simple operation. A VoIP system using SIP comprises the first and second SIP terminals(100,200) and a SIP exchange(300). The SIP exchange(300) comprises a signal processing part, a signal judgement part, and an MCID registration part. The signal processing part, if a BYE message is received from the first SIP terminal(100) which is communicating with the second SIP terminal(200), transmits a 200 OK message to the first SIP terminal(100) and completes the established call. The signal judgement part judges whether a BYE message is received from the second SIP terminal(200) within an MCID critical time after call completion with the first SIP terminal(100). If it is confirmed that the BYE message is not delivered from the second SIP terminal(200) within the MCID critical time, the MCID registration part registers information on the first SIP terminal(100) in an MCID database.
