L-THREO TYPE HIGHLY STEREOSELECTIVE L-THREONINE ALDOLASE AND GENE ENCODING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an L-threo type highly stereoselective L-threonine aldolase that selectively synthesizes L-threo-DOPS (L-threo-3,4-dihydroxyphenylserine) of optically active substance and has high activity.

SOLUTION: A DNA encoding a protein having L-threonine aldolase is obtained from a bacterium belonging to the genus Streptomyces. The gene encoding a protein that comprises an amino acid sequence in which one or several specific amino acids are added, deleted or substituted in the protein and has L-threo type highly stereoselective L-threonine aldolase activity is transferred to Escherichia coli and expressed.
