PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetism detecting element which can particularly maintain higherΔRA and can reduce a coupling magnetic field Hin. SOLUTION: A free magnetic layer 6 is formed in the three-layer structure. At the interface between a lower non-magnetic material layer 5 and an upper non-magnetic material layer 7, CoMnαalloy layers 6a, 6c formed of metallized compound of which composition formula is expressed with Co<SB>2x</SB>Mn<SB>x</SB>α<SB>y</SB>(αincludes an elementβof a kind or two or more kinds selected from Ge, Ga, In, Si, Pb, Zn, Sn, and Al and Sb, concentrations x, y are expressed by atom% with limitation of 3x+y=100 atom%). Concentration y ofαis within the range equal to or higher than 24 atom% and equal to or lower than 28 atom%.
