PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which is capable of utilizing a shared area or executing a function in response to user judgement. SOLUTION: If data required for executing one of a plurality of functions provided in a multi-purpose machine can not be stored in a RAM 92 as they are, based on an execution command of the one function, since data regarding another function are already stored in a shared area of the RAM 92 to be used for the relevant one function, a user selection call is indicated on a touch panel 99, and a CPU 90 controls use of the one function in accordance with information of a selection result inputted to the touch panel 99 by the user.
