PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope apparatus capable of adequately setting a communication speed between an endoscope and a signal processor. SOLUTION: An each scope 2 has an EEPROM 20 that contains information on a CCD 13 therein and a CPU 21 to control readout/writing from/in the EEPROM 20. When the scope 2 is connected to a processor 4, a CPU 41 in the processor 4 sends a call signal for sending version information of the communication speed to the CPU 21 at a low communication speed. The CPU 41 receives the version information and communicates with the CPU 21 at a communication speed set in response to the version information. When the CPU 41 receives the version information of a fast communication speed, the communication is done by setting fast communication speed, which shortens a communication period.
