PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an open/close mechanism of portable telephone, having a laterally elongated large screen which is located at a position symmetric with respect to an operating section, when a display section is opened, and requiring only a single stage of open/close operation. SOLUTION: In the opening/closing mechanism where a line 4 is drawn in a direction 45°with respect to the upper outside or lower inside from a point 2 on a side separated by a length of (long side of display section-short side of display section)/2 downward from the corner 3 on the upper side 7, when the display section 10 is closed and a point on that line becomes the center of rotation 1, a guide mechanism of two pins 23 and 24 at the operating section and grooves 13 and 14 at the display section fitted to the pins and is concentric with the center of rotation 1 is provided.
