PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rear bodywork of an automobile allowing easy installing operations and capable of further enhancing the strength. SOLUTION: The rear bodywork of an automobile is configured so that a side body is formed from a rear quarter inner panel and a side body outer panel, a rear roof rail is formed from the tail of a roof panel and a roof back member attached to the bottom of the roof panel, and the rear quarter inner panel and the roof back member are connected together to constitute the upper part of the back door opening in the automobile, wherein a welding hole 24 is formed at the end of the roof back member 21, while the other end of a back pillar upper reinforcement 13 with one end coupled with a side body outer panel 11 is coupled with the top of the rear quarter inner panel 12 in such a manner as covering the top openings of the rear quarter inner panel 12 and the side body outer panel 11.
