A sterilizing apparatus of a drum type washing machine is provided to easily sterilize the bacteria contained in the laundry and to improve the sterilizing performance by filling the special sterilizing solution in the storage and auxiliary containers and washing the laundry. A sterilizing apparatus of a drum type washing machine is composed of a tub mounted in the washing machine and rotatably installed with a drum where the laundry is received at the inner receiving space; and a sterilizing unit(110) receiving the sterilizing solution inside to sterilize the laundry and inject the sterilizing solution into the tub along with the washing water. The sterilizing unit contains a storage container(112) filled with the sterilizing solution, an agitating device(113) formed in the storage container, a heater(114) formed in the storage container to increase temperature, a supply pipe(116) supplying the washing water into the tub, and an opening and closing valve(117) formed at the center of the supply pipe to selectively close water.
