<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output a reduced layout with a readable resolution in a digital copier having a reduced layout function. <P>SOLUTION: In realizing the reduced layout function in a scanning print system, characters included in an original document are recognized and the size of the smallest character is recognized. A reduction rate in reduced layout is calculated. The degree of reduction print of the smallest character recognized in the recognition of character size by the calculated reduction rate is calculated, and a resolution of a printer required for readable print of the character is calculated. If the calculated resolution is smaller than a previously set size, output is performed by a printer having a lower resolution on a network. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
