<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant detection apparatus capable of easily detecting highly precise occupant information and simplifying constitution for it. <P>SOLUTION: A marking 4 made of display information to show a value of drawing quantity of a seat belt 3 is applied on a surface of the seat belt 3 of a vehicle. A camera 12 picks up images of an occupant 2 seated on a seat 1 and the marking 4 of the seat belt 3 installed on the occupant 2. A control part 13 detects occupant information including physique and posture of the occupant 2 from a position of the occupant 2 and the drawing quantity of the seat belt shown by the marking 4 by reading the occupant 2 and the marking 4 from a picture image data provided by picking up the images by the camera 12.
