PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil leakage preventing method and an oil leakage preventing structure of more surely preventing oil leakage of a transformer and reducing its maintenance cost. SOLUTION: The oil leakage preventing method of a transformer is constituted such that in the transformer 1 of which an opening of an oil tank 2 is sealed by inserting a packing 5 and a steel wire 6 in between a flange 3 formed along the opening edge of the oil tank 2 and a cover plate 4 sandwiching the packing 5 and the steel wire 6 members, and placing the cover plate 4 on the flange 3 and fixing them by inserting a bolt 7 into a bolt hole 3' of the flange 3 and a bolt hole 4' of the cover plate 4 and tightening a nut 8, resin is injected and filled into a flange gap 11 formed between the flange 3 and the cover plate 4, and between the packing 5 and the steel wire 6. The oil leakage preventing structure of a transformer is constituted such that resin is filled in the flange gap part 11 formed between the flange 3 along the opening edge of the oil tank 2 of the transformer 1 and the cover plate 4 placed on and fixed to the flange 3, by inserting the packing 5 and the steel wire 6 for sealing the opening of the oil tank 2.
