Provided is a pouch type secondary battery, which prevents generation of a short-circuit between both electrodes and both electrode tabs of a short-width battery. The pouch type secondary battery comprises: an electrode assembly including a unit cell and an electrode tab assembly; and a pouch-like casing for housing the electrode assembly, wherein the casing has a sealing portion sealed in such a manner that the electrode tab assembly is partially exposed to the exterior, and the electrode tab assembly comprises electrode tabs(52), and a first protection member(54) with insulation property for surrounding the exposed end of at least one electrode tab(52) exposed to the exterior of the pouch-like casing.
