A portable terminal device with a built-in fingerprint sensor. The portable terminal device has a fingerprint sensor on an operation panel, and, in the device, operability of movement of a cursor and a pointer is not impaired. A fingerprint sensor for a fingerprint authentication is provided on an operation panel, and a cursor or pointer on a display is moved in accordance with a temporal change in the movement of a finger or in the position of a pressure applied to a sensing surface of a fingerprint sensor. Further, the timing of detecting the temporal change is determined in accordance with a temporal change of the movement of a finger or the pressure. ® KIPO & WIPO 2007
