A DMB receiver and a method for providing DMB channel information in the DMB receiver are provided to scan DMB channels through a separate DMB channel scanning unit, thereby providing newer DMB channel information than that one device scans and receives the DMB channel. A DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) receiver comprises the followings: a digital broadcasting channel scanning unit(110) which scans a digital broadcasting channel according to a request of digital broadcasting channel scan to update currently receivable digital broadcasting channel information; a digital broadcasting receiving unit(120) which receives digital broadcasting data corresponding to a specific frequency which a user wants; and a control unit(160) which provides the currently receivable digital broadcasting channel information, updated by the digital broadcasting channel scanning unit(110), and provides specific frequency information which the user wants among currently receivable digital broadcasting channel information to the digital broadcasting receiving unit(120).
