LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY APPARATUS, AND INFORMATION TERMINAL HAVING THE SAME

An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and an information terminal having the LCD are provided to solve asymmetry of upper and lower viewing angles or left and right viewing angles and achieve high-quality image display. An LCD includes a first linear dielectric protrusion(107) and a second linear dielectric protrusion(110). The first linear dielectric protrusion is formed between a common electrode and a liquid crystal layer and arranged over a plurality of pixels in the direction of shorter sides of pixels. The first linear dielectric protrusion is placed at the center of a transmission part(105,108) of the LCD. The second linear dielectric protrusion is formed in a reflection part(109) between the common electrode and a first substrate and arranged over a plurality of pixels in the direction of the shorter sides of the pixels. An alignment direction of liquid crystal molecules is perpendicular to the first and second linear dielectric protrusions and parallel with longer sides of the pixels. The liquid crystal molecules are aligned in parallel at a tilt angle of 0 to 2 degree. A voltage higher than a threshold voltage of liquid crystal is used to drive the liquid crystal.
