An ink jet recording head and an ink jet recording apparatus are provided to effectively prevent or reduce displacement of an ink ejecting direction by excellently maintaining an ink-repulsive layer in spite of repeated wiping processes on an ejecting opening surface. An ink jet recording head using a pigment ink as an ejected ink includes a nozzle member(3) having one or more nozzles(12) to eject the ink and an ink-repulsive layer to form an ejecting opening surface(1a) having an ejecting opening(11) as an open end of the nozzles, and a protrusion positioned around the ejecting opening and spaced apart from the ejecting opening surface to protrude along the axis direction of the nozzles. The nozzle has an outer contour having a radius of curvature variable at a cross-section where the central axis passes through, and an apex(A) having a minimal radius of curvature is contained in a protruded portion(8) and positioned at the highest position from the ejecting opening surface in the central axis direction. The nozzle member is made of resin. The ink-repulsive layer is made of resin containing epoxy. An ink jet recording apparatus to eject the ink from the ink jet recording head to perform recording on a recording sheet includes a head mounting unit to mount the ink jet recording head, and a feeding unit to feed a recording sheet.
