<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve image quality. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image forming part 10; a fixing device; a slack detection part to detect the slack of a medium; a driving part driven to convey the medium at first speed and second speed; a fixing device driving processing means to drive the driving part by switching the first speed and the second speed; a driving time calculating processing means to calculate first driving time when the driving part is driven at the first speed and second driving time when the driving part is driven at the second speed; and a speed setting processing means to set the first speed and the second speed based on the first driving time and the second driving time.
