SEMICONDUCTOR LIGHT EMITTING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor light emitting apparatus wherein the luminance in the main light extracting direction is improved by reflecting the whole light emitted sideward from a semiconductor light emitting device.

SOLUTION: This semiconductor light emitting apparatus 10 comprises a pair of lead frames consisting of a first lead frame 2 as one lead frame and a second lead frame 3 as the other lead frame, and the semiconductor light emitting device 1 mounted on the first lead frame 2 via a sub-mount element 8. The second lead frame 3 comprises a reflective portion 4 having a hole formed therein for receiving the semiconductor light emitting device 1 mounted on the first lead frame 2. The inner surface of the hole is a reflective surface 6 for upwardly reflecting the light emitted sideward from the semiconductor light emitting device 1 mounted on the first lead frame 2. The semiconductor light emitting device 1 mounted on the first lead frame 2 is received inside the hole in the state wherein it is surrounded by the reflective surface 6.
