PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic nonlinear optical material, for which a polymer binder having a high glass transition temperature, is utilized effectively, and which has superior nonlinear optical performance and superior stability combined with each other, and to provide a nonlinear optical element that uses the organic nonlinear optical material. SOLUTION: The organic nonlinear optical material, formed by dispersing or bonding the organic compound having the nonlinear optical activity in or to the polymer binder, is characterized by containing at least one kind of tertiary amine derivatives represented by general Formula (1) as the nonlinear optically active organic compound.
