<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing plate material with excellent resistance to scuffing and plate wear, and a printing method. <P>SOLUTION: This lithographic printing plate material has a hydrophilic layer and an imaging layer formed on a plastic support and is characterized in that the hydrophilic layer contains a scaly silica particle.
