PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a PDP drive circuit device that generates drive waveforms with less distortions, while reducing the power consumed and the number of components that constitute the drive circuit, and to provide a plasma display device. SOLUTION: The drive circuit is configured, in such a manner that: the circuit is equipped with a constant-voltage power supply V1, a constant-voltage power supply V2 at a higher potential than the constant-voltage power supply V1, a constant-voltage power supply V0 at the ground potential, and a constant-voltage power supply V3 at a negative potential, in order to impart a potential with a desired drive waveform to the main discharge path 7 of a scan electrode drive circuit 501; a switching element S1 in a power recovery unit; and the constant-voltage power supply V1 are connected via a diode D110 to allow a current to flow from the main discharge path 7 to the constant-voltage power supply V1, when the potential of the main discharge path 7 is higher than the constant-voltage power supply V1; and a diode D2 in the power recovery unit and the constant-voltage power supply V0 are connected via a diode D120 and a switching element S120 to allow a current to flow from the constant-voltage power supply V0 to the main discharge path 7, when the potential of the main discharge path 7 is lower than the ground potential.
